2021 OCC Advocacy Week - Advocating for Business Prosperity from Reopening to Recovery

From Monday, March 22 to Friday, March 26, chambers of commerce and boards of trade from across Ontario will gather virtually for Advocacy Week. Share ideas and priorities on behalf of our member businesses, advocating for business prosperity from reopening to recovery.

As a key benefit of your OCC membership, all OCC Chamber Network members are encouraged to join us virtually for Advocacy Week. This is your opportunity to interact directly with elected and non-elected officials, sharing the ideas and concerns of your local members. Last year, more than 54 local chambers were represented, and we hope to see even more virtually in 2021!

THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2021.

REGISTRATION:

• Registration complimentary and limited to 2 representatives per chamber of commerce/board of trade (encouraged to register one staff member and one board volunteer).

• Registration will inform your meeting assignments for all three days. Please advise Jessica Wright - jessicawright@occ.ca by March 8 if you cannot make one of the meetings.

• Participating chambers must be members in good standing of the OCC.

• Additional spaces may be offered after Monday, March 15 on a first-come, first-served basis and as space permits. Should space be available, priority will be given to under-represented regions

LOCATION:

This year, we will be meeting virtually. Zoom links and calendar invites will be provided in advance of the event.

MINISTRY MEETING SELECTIONS

You will have the opportunity to attend FIVE separate meetings this year: Two Ministerial meetings, a meeting with an NDP critic, a town hall with the Green Party, meeting with a Liberal MPP.

Step 1: You will first be prompted to choose your top THREE theme choices as part of the Eventbrite registration.

Step 2: You will be notified of your meeting assignments by Tuesday, March 16. As a reminder, there is a maximum of one representative per chamber/board of trade per meeting. We will do our best to accommodate each attendee, but cannot guarantee placement.

HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW:

o Advocacy Week Briefing: Wednesday, March 17 from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM

o Day 1 | Ministerial Meetings: Monday, March 22 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

o Day 2 | NDP: Tuesday, March 23 from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM

o Day 3 | Liberal: Friday, March 26 from 1:00 PM-2:30 PM

o Day 4 | Green: Wednesday, April 7 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
