2022 SFI Policy Conference and Big Splash Gala and Fundraiser
The Sport Fishing Institute of BC is a non-profit organization established in the early 1980’s and is dedicated to promoting, enhancing and protecting sustainable sport fishing opportunities in BC. Our Vision: that British Columbia sport fishing be known as a world leader in quality of experience and opportunity, providing the broadest range of social and economic benefits.
Over the years, many changes and impacts to opportunity and access for BC's public fishery have been experienced. While there is much work to do without the continued efforts of the SFI and your support over the years public access to sustainable fisheries would look very different than they do today. In addition to sustained efforts to make the benefits, social and economic of the recreational fishery known to government and the public, the SFI addresses emerging and ongoing issues that affect the sector. Allocation disputes, access and opportunity and licensing and transport issues all have caused significant impacts to BC's public fishery and will require continued attention and focus in the future.
Now more than ever, we need your help to see through positive change and effective implementation of the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative funds including the adoption of mark selective fishing and mass marking practices in BC and to help support and protect sustainable opportunity for the sport fishing community. Please help us raise funds by participating in the SFI Big Splash Online Auction and be better informed of the issues by attending the Annual Conference.
We will host the SFI Annual Conference - Selective Fishing: Achieving a Balance - on November 18th, 2022. The conference will include presentations from and timely dialogue with senior DFO officials and the BC fish and fisheries community. We welcome you to attend to support sport fishing in BC and encourage you to get tickets early and while they are still available. All ticket sales will be closed on Monday, November 7, 2022 by 10PM. Conference registration opens at 9am on November 18th and doors open for the Splash Gala at 5:30pm.
We have secured courtesy rates at several hotels near by. Rooms are not being held and reservations are subject to availability. Please contact the SFI office for more information.
