About this event
The 2023 BGuiled Debate Finals will take place at the Performance Centre of the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre, located in Yaletown at181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver, on March 2, 2023.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general merriment. Speeches start at 7:30 p.m. There will be drinks for purchase (cash or etransfer).
Each team of two debaters will present two 10-minute speeches for or against the maxim: “BE IT RESOLVED THAT NO ONE SHOULD BE THE JUDGE IN THEIR OWN CASE" (or, for those that pretend they can speak Latin, "Nemo Judex In Sua Causa").
The Debate Finals are generally adjudicated by a panel of sitting judges from the courts of British Columbia, and representatives from major legal organizations in British Columbia.
