About Mike Filer
Mike Filer (born May 6, 1990, in Brantford, Ontario) is a prominent Canadian football player, best known for his exceptional career as an offensive lineman in the Canadian Football League (CFL), particularly with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Filer started playing football at age 12, continuing his amateur career with the Brantford Collegiate Institute Mustangs. He went on to play for the Mount Allison University Mounties, where his performance earned him multiple team awards, AUS All-Stars, and an All-Canadian selection, catching the eye of CFL scouts.
Drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2012 CFL Draft, Filer soon joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he had a successful and enduring career, becoming the longest-tenured Ticat toward the end of his time there. He was an immediate starter and cornerstone of the offensive line, known for his toughness, consistency, and leadership. Over his career with the Tiger-Cats, Filer appeared in 112 games, including 3 Grey Cups and 5 Eastern Finals.
Filer was respected both on and off the field for his work ethic, professionalism, and community commitment, serving as a mentor to younger players. His CFL career is a testament to his skill and perseverance.
