Event description
Join us for our 20th year! Featuring talks on puppy mills, captive whales & dolphins, and animal law.

About this Event

The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) Animal Welfare Forum, organized by the OVC Animal Welfare Club, is an educational event where we have speakers come to discuss their particular areas of expertise related to the well-being of animals. Coffee and lunch are provided.

Donations for our student club-sponsored Care-A-Thon Scholarship are greatly appreciated and can be made online with a credit card using the registration form or with cash on the day of the forum. This scholarship is awarded each year to a graduate student at the University of Guelph whose research is likely to have the most practical application to the improvement of animal welfare. This is the only student club-sponsored scholarship at the University and it has been given out for 20 years now!

Featured speakers:

Animal Law Panel - Camille Labchuk, Dr. Kendra Coulter

"Can the problem of puppy mills be better addressed by establishing high welfare standards for dogs in commercial breeding kennels?" - Dr. Candice Croney

"Large Brains in Small Tanks: The Welfare of Captive Cetaceans" - Dr. Lori Marino
