Event description
Welcome to the 20th Annual Powell River Film Festival, February 5-16, 2021.

About this Event

The Powell River Film Society produces the Powell River Film Festival, an annual event each February dedicated to showcasing the finest and most current releases from Powell River, Canada, and the World. Visit our website at www.prfilmfestival.ca for more information, including film trailers.

This year, there will be three screenings per day at the historic Patricia Theatre - morning, afternoon, evening. Each screening is limited to 50 passes due to Covid restrictions. The pass you purchase entitles you to see every film only at the screening time you select (up to 12 films). Passes are non-transferable and not eligible for screenings at other times.

For safety reasons, and to reduce contact at the box office, there will not be any individual ticket sales. All screenings will be limited to pass holders only, and seating at the theatre will be arranged so that each pass holder will have a reserved seat that only they sit in.

Passes ordered online will be ready for pick up at the PRFF sales kiosk in the Town Centre Mall and at the Patricia Theatre box office during the Festival. *Powell River Film Society membership is included with Pass purchase.*

This year, we will also be offering an ONLINE film festival, also showing 12 films, for those whose schedules or circumstances do not allow them to attend films at the theatre. Please note that while there is overlap between films in the online festival and the theatre festival, the film lineups are not exactly the same.

Passes sold via Eventbrite are for the Patricia Theatre only and do not include online screenings. To order online festival passes and/or tickets, please visit prfilmfestival.eventive.org

Powell River Film Society is responsible for operating in compliance with the Motion Picture Act and Consumer Protection BC. Only registered, not-for-profit, film societies are allowed to screen films that have not been classified by Consumer Protection BC, and only members are permitted to be present at the place where a non-classified film is being exhibited.

THEREFORE: To attend a Powell River Film Festival screening (which may not have been classified by Consumer Protection BC), all attendees 18 and older must hold a valid 2021 Powell River Film Society membership card (included with passes).

The membership is valid until December 31, 2021. By joining the Film Society, you are also entitled to attend the next Annual General Meeting.

IMPORTANT: You must show your membership card at every screening. If you have forgotten your membership card, you may be asked to purchase another membership in order to be allowed into the theatre.

How can I purchase a ticket to a single movie?

In an effort to ensure everyone's safety, theatre screenings are limited to 50 pass holders only, essentially creating cohorts so that the same people will be in the theatre at each screening. For this reason, individual tickets are not available for theatre screenings. If you wish to purchase a single ticket to a film, you can purchase a ticket for the online screening. Please visit www.prfilmfestival.ca for details.

Where can I pick up my pass before the festival?

Your pass(es) will be ready for pickup at our PRFF sales kiosk in the Town Centre Mall, one week after ordering. Mall table hours are 12-4pm, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We are located near Canada Post in the mall.

What can I bring into the event?

Anything purchased at Concession at Patricia Theatre can be taken in to enjoy during a film.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email linda@prfilmfestival.ca or phone 1-416-554-9663.

What's the refund policy?

No refunds, but please reach out if there are extenuating circumstances.

What if there is a COVID lockdown during the Festival?

In the event of a lockdown, all passes will be exchanged for passes to our online film festival, so that you can still enjoy festival films in the safety and comfort of your own home. Note that, due to distribution restrictions, the film program for the online festival will not be exactly the same as in the Patricia Theatre.

What is the age requirement for a senior's pass?

61 and older qualify for senior's rate.

What time should I be at the Theatre for a screening?

Patrons are asked to be in their seats at least 15 minutes before the start of the screening as seats are not guaranteed after that time.
