Description

OSA members, affiliates and guests are welcome to participate in long-range rifle practice sessions at the MilCun Training Centre. Be aware that the practices are open to qualified shooters only, as outlined in the Range Standing Orders.

Those who are qualified can register. To qualify, you must:

  • Have previously attended the OSA Long-Range Rifle Practices, OR
  • Have taken the OSA Long-Range Rifle CLINIC, OR
  • Have taken the MilCun Enhanced (Long-Range) RIfle Course.

If you don't have the above qualifications, but would like to petition for equivalency, email the coordinator Mike Brake mbrake308@gmail.com. Once you've been approved, you can complete your registration here on Eventbrite.

Participants must be aware of the Range Standing Orders in place governing this particular practice:

  1. This practice is not intended for the untrained. It is mandatory that each participant has received training to effectively zero and shoot a rifle system out to 600 meters during a long-range specific course or clinic. The 2019 Long-Range Rifle CLINIC was held on 14 April 2019. You may also qualify by taking the MilCun Enhanced (Long-Range) Rifle Course, offered three times this year.
  2. Each participant must have an understanding of what it takes to properly obtain and or confirm a zero for the rifle, scope and ammunition being utilized.
  3. Furthermore, during the practice, participants must achieve an effective zero commencing from 100 meters and continue to achieve effective hits progressively at subsequent distances out to 600 meters.
  4. Participants must also possess shooting liability insurance, commonly acquired through their home club, such as CSSA, CCFR, NFA, or similar.
  5. Any ammunition being utilized must be safe. Meaning, if the rifle experiences any signs of excessive pressure, such as a hard extraction, this will result in that batch/lot of ammunition to be banned from being used.

Ammunition must be proven safe in your rifle; you must have previously fired 50-100 rounds of this load in this rifle. Electronic ear defenders and safety glasses are required. A 2-way portable radio and a spotting scope are recommended.

Targets: bring what you want to utilize for 100m zero and at progressive range intervals out to 600m.

$65.00 for non-members. $25.00 off for OSA members (use Promotional Code osamember) and $25 off for OSA affiliate members (use Promotional Code osaaffiliate). If you're not sure whether your club is an affiliate, register and pay the full fee... then email lindamilcun@gmail.com and ask if your qualify for a rebate.

Check in prior to 0900 at the 100-meter firing point. You'll be asked for proof of club membership. You'll also be required to sign a liability waiver. Mandatory safety briefing starts at 0900. If you are not present for the safety briefing, you will not be able to participate. Practice starts at 100 meters and moves back in 100-meter increments to 600 meters.

If you haven't been to an OSA event before, email lindamilcun@gmail.com for detailed instructions. You must have shooter's liability insurance to enter our facility; i.e., you must be a member of the CSSA, CCFR, NFA, or similar. You must be fluent in English to participate in any OSA event.
