Event description
A 90 minute interactive workshop designed for community decision makers & community members on Governance for Fire Service Administration

About this Event

Fire and life safety is a dynamic journey and a continuing evolution. There is always more to learn and it never hurts to revisit some of the basic tenets of fire and life safety. The IFMS programs are tools that you can access to help make the most of your fire and life safety journey. The more of them you use, the more robust your community’s fire and life safety plan and procedures can be.

To do more, you need more. That’s why the Indigenous Fire Marshal Service is offering a variety of live, interactive, virtual programs for individuals and communities at various levels of fire and life safety knowledge and experience. All of the programs offered tie into and build upon one another: helping provide the assets that you need to help make the most comprehensive safety plan, appropriate for your community’s needs.

Given the current situation of the COVID pandemic, and in order to keep the communities we work with and our people safe, these courses are currently being offered virtually. Our plan is to ultimately be doing deliveries and programs in person within communities, and eagerly look forward to when we can come together for training and delivery programs in person again.

2.3 Effective Governance for Fire Service Administration

This 90 minute interactive workshop is designed for community decision makers, and is also appropriate for anyone interested or involved in fire and life safety. The aim of this introductory program is to establish a common language and understanding between Fire Departments and community leadership, so that they can work together determine their fire and life safety, prevention, and training plans. Having a common understanding of the basic tenets of fire and life safety amongst as many community members and leaders as possible is extremely helpful when creating fire and life safety programs and services.
