Event description

Description

Free evening of live entertainment - November 11th from 6-9 pm, University of Ottawa Academic Hall, 133 Seraphin Marion, Ottawa.

Over the past 26 years, Ottawa high schools and students have been awarded over $30,000 through our "Shakespeare on the Platform" - SHOP competition.

Come and explore the seasons of life and the human condition: love, loss, courage, hatred, politics ... in the Bard's brilliant soliloquies and sonnets. See how to influence others - it is not just what you say, but how you say it.

The 2 most quoted works in the world are the Bible and Shakespeare. Join us on November 11th and learn the relevance of Shakespeare today and where the following quotes came from, as high school students from throughout Ottawa compete for $1,250 in prize money.

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them."

"The course of true love never did run smooth."

"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.” Wise words. Where do they come from?

You are welcome to attend free of charge. Light refreshments will be served during the intermission.

Supported by the Royal Commonwealth Society - Ottawa charity.
