About this Event

Fire and life safety is a dynamic journey and a continuing evolution. There is always more to learn and it never hurts to revisit some of the basic tenets of fire and life safety. The IFMS programs are tools that you can access to help make the most of your fire and life safety journey. The more of them you use, the more robust your community’s fire and life safety plan and procedures can be.

To do more, you need more. That’s why the Indigenous Fire Marshal Service is offering a variety of live, interactive, virtual programs for individuals and communities at various levels of fire and life safety knowledge and experience. All of the programs offered tie into and build upon one another: helping provide the assets that you need to help make the most comprehensive safety plan, appropriate for your community’s needs.

Given the current situation of the COVID pandemic, and in order to keep the communities we work with and our people safe, these courses are currently being offered virtually. Our plan is to ultimately be doing deliveries and programs in person within communities, and eagerly look forward to when we can come together for training and delivery programs in person again.

2.9 EOC Training Emergency Operation Centre

This 90 minute interactive virtual workshop is suitable for anyone within the community involved in or impacted by disaster and emergencies. The workshop will provide an introductory overview of how emergency response is structured, how different agencies interact with and work together to have a coordinated response to an incident, what the different functions are within an Emergency Operations Centre, and how using a standardized framework helps to respond more effectively under stressful situations. No matter your role in the community – whether you are or are interested in becoming a first responder, or if you think you would be impacted by an emergency in your community – this foundational program will equip you with an understanding of emergency response frameworks.
