Event description

Description

The evening will feature a three-course beef strip loin dinner, a video presentation of highlights from the 1978-79 season, a silent auction and a live auction of memorabilia, both of which will benefit the Ab McDonald Foundation and the True North Youth Foundation, and a Q&A with the players and coach McVie. Tax receipts will be provided.

The 1978-79 Winnipeg Jets were the last championship hockey team in the city's history. Led by the likes of Terry Ruskowski, Kent Nilsson, Morris Lukowich, Rich Preston, Peter Sullivan, Willy Lindstrom, Scott Campbell, Kim Clackson, Roland Eriksson, Bill Lesuk, Lyle Moffat, John Gray, Paul MacKinnon, Joe Daley and Markus Mattsson, not to mention coach Tommy McVie, the Jets defeated Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers in May 1979 to win the last AVCO Cup championsip of the WHA.

Enter the Jets time machine to relive memories of the glory days, get pictures and hockey cards signed, pose for pictures with your heroes and hear stories of the Jets most unlikely championship. Some of these stories are even true.

NOTE: THE PICTURE ABOVE IS FROM THE 40-YEAR REUNION OF THE 1977-78 WHA JETS WHICH WAS HELD LAST MAY
