Event description

Description

Are you a brain enthusiast? Or have you ever wondered how our brains work... How we form thoughts; remember facts and experiences; sleep; know when/what to eat; know when to pull our hand away from a painful stimulus; and how our brains make us who we are. Neuroscience is a rapidly growing field of study, and it all starts with the next generation: you!

The University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Neuroscience Network invite you to compete in the 4th Annual Saskatchewan Brain Bee! All Saskatchewan high school students in grades 9-12 are eligible to compete (including those who competed in the past). Participation is FREE and there will be CASH prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The 1st place winner will also receive an engraved trophy to display at their high school. Moreover, they will have a chance to compete in the Canadian National Brain Bee at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario) in May.

The competition is in Q&A format where eliminations occur at every increasingly difficult level of questions. All of the questions will come from the book, Neuroscience: Science of the Brain, which is freely downloadable via this link: http://brain.mcmaster.ca/BrainBee/Neuroscience.Science.of.the.Brain.pdf

Make sure to register well ahead of time through this Eventbrite page to secure your spot in the competition. If you have any questions about the Saskatchewan Brain Bee or the Canadian National Brain Bee, please contact your local Brain Bee coordinators, Jay Kim and Katherina Lebedeva at saskatchewan@brainbee.ca.
