Life is about two things:
The experiences you have and who you share them with.
On Saturday, December 17th, the team at 5 Drives Fitness & Performance invites you to an experience you won't soon forget - our annual House Party 4 Hope.
For those that know me, I am a minimalist in the truest form.
I know I often joke about acquiring every single Star Wars toy that ever graced the earth but when it comes right down to it, I don’t need or ask for much.
Seriously, why should I?
Give me a roof over my head, the food I need to sustain my insane metabolism, the clothes on my back, and just enough cash in my pocket to fulfill all the experiences with my family and friends I truly want to experience, and I’m good.
* Bigger house? Why? My home is where my family is. The size or scope doesn’t matter.
* Nicer car? Why? To impress the ladies? I'm already married to the woman who makes everything in my life beautiful. To impress the dudes? I’m fit, fabulous, and fully confident forty three. Give me a vehicle that doesn’t break down and gets me from awesome point “A” to awesome point “B” and I’m good.
* What about “bling”? What about yachts? What about endlessly pouring champagne and “making it rain” with my hundred dollar bills? Please. Save that for the (lame) hip hop videos.
Roof, food, clothes, family, friends, experiences. That’s it. That’s all anyone should really care about.
Everything else is . . . well . . . everything else.
But what if I told you that while most of us are roaming the malls - spending like there’s no tomorrow, and looking for that little (or not so little) present (i.e. the “everything else” I just spoke of) to give to someone that most likely already has everything - there are people out there that don’t have the basics?
Most people have everything.
Some have nothing.
I ask you to pause for a second and pick the one person you love the most in this world.
Picture your loved one without a home. Homeless. Living on the street.
Or picture your loved one without food. Hungry. With zero means to get food.
Or picture them without proper clothes. Cold. Wet. Miserable.
Do you see them? Can you picture them?
Now, picture the guy standing in Best Buy trying to decide between a 37” Plasma TV or a 42” Hi Def TV – because football on Sunday in his warm house, eating ridiculous amounts of chicken wings, while dressed in his $200 authentic NFL jersey won’t be the same if he doesn’t make the right choice.
Pretty ridiculous, isn’t it?
I can’t change the world (although trust me – I’ll never give up trying) but what I can do - what WE can do - is help, because together, we can make a difference
The goals for House Party 4 Hope are simple:
To accumulate 136 bags of used coats and blankets to fully outfit all 136 families living homeless in Surrey and Langley,
To raise enough funds to ensure every, single one of the 200 children that will be homeless this Christmas receive a present.
Doors open at 8:30am on Saturday, December 17th for a warm 5 Drives welcome.
In keeping with tradition and because we consider you all family, everyone in attendance will help us decorate our 5 Drives Tree with a commemorative family ornament with your name on it.
Then, it's over to see the Big Guy himself. Yes, Santa will be on hand and you will be given the opportunity to have your picture taken with him - albeit with a twist . . .
Something that is truly the 5 Drives culture and something that will separate your pic with Santa from all the other ones you'll see this holiday season.
There will prizes, a raffle, and a special announcement on a major community initiative 5 Drives will be spearheading in 2017.
Then, the House Party 4 Hope training session will start at 9:00am.
The training session is perfectly suited for all ages and abilities, and, as always, our childminding room and our amazing team of childminders will be made available to anyone who needs this service.
Canada's HOTTEST DJ Big Blizz will be on hand, spinning the very best in old school hip hop and R&B.
Lastly, and after the training session is done, we invite you all to stay and hang out with the Big Guy himself, as we'll be hosting a light, post workout Brunch With Santa.
So, mark your calendars and make your way to 5 Drives Fitness & Performance on Saturday, December 17th between 8:30am - 10:30am.
Let's come together as one big family and experience the "feeling of success" this holiday season, which is defined by "giving value to others."
100% of all proceeds will be donated and our suggested donation for this event will be $15.
Thank you so much for your support!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
