About this event

The idea for 5 Poets Breaking into Song was born out of George Elliott Clarke’s Xmas 2020 present for Giovanna Riccio: Asking James Rolfe to compose music for her poem, “Namesake,” and then having it sung for her. Seeing the pleasure that the gift brought everyone, Clarke decided to commission more poems turned into songs by Rolfe, Emily Hiemstra, and dd Jackson: To prove that poets are all songwriters—once composers get access to their works.
