516 Mixed Media

Mixed media is a visual art form that allows the artist to use a variety of mediums to create an art piece. Exploration of a wide range of materials and techniques is emphasized in this six-week course. Students can combine drawing, painting and collage with a wide range of processes such as relief printing, frottage, marbling, stencilling, sponging on paper, wood, and canvas, etc. Students will organize and assemble the project pieces to create a series of mixed media works combining a variety of different surfaces and effects during this course. This class is designed for beginners and those wishing to experiment with new methods of working with texture and combinations of traditional and non-traditional materials. Demonstrations, reviews and samples will provide inspiration with each class session.
