Casey Langbroek, FCPA, FCGA will discuss practical accounting issues such as income tax and government filings. He will also discuss new rules and regulations that will impact Not For Profits and Charities in the future, such as workplace safety, human rights and other new developments.
Ken Volkenant will discuss the required transition to the new BC Societies Act, which came into force in November 2016. Ken will review the transition requirements and key changes under the new Act, including the requirement to publically disclose remuneration and expanded member rights and remedies. He will also explore some key issues that every Not For Profit Organization (whether a BC Society or not) should consider when updating governing documents.
Luke Johnson will provide a review of recent cases that affect charities, touching on receipting, revocation, penalties, member disputes and more. He will also review the latest developments and new policies from the Canada Revenue Agency Charities Directorate, including any new changes arising from the 2017 federal budget.
