Event description

Description

Hosted by GUStA: Graduate Union of the Students of Art, the 5th Annual Wollesen Memorial Graduate Symposium will take place on Friday, March 9th with a day-long conference entitled “The Art of Passage: Transnational Encounters and the Convergence of Cultures." This interdisciplinary symposium will feature eight graduate papers related to how cultural interactions and artistic migrations have shaped the growth of art and art history. It will bring together scholarship which seeks to rehabilitate, reveal, and interrogate the formative role that intercultural encounters have had on the history of art.

The symposium will end with a keynote address by Professor Iftikhar Dadi of Cornell University, who will present “Generative Encounters: South Asian Artists in the UK."

For a full program of the day, please visit https://gustasymposium.wordpress.com/schedule/

Breakfast, lunch, and catered breaks are included throughout the day. An evening reception following the keynote will include a cash bar and light hors d'oeuvres.

All are welcome, and the symposium is free for everyone! However, the conference organizers would appreciate if attendees register through Eventbrite ahead of time.
