About this Event

The Principal's Office at Lakeshore Campus is excited for the 6 in 6 Speaker Series at Humber College Lakeshore Campus.

The winter 2020 6 in 6 Speaker Series showcases various Humber international projects from the 6 faculties. The panel is made up of various faculty members from different disciplines and aims to create a space to encourage a collaborative focus that makes us a unique institution.

We have partnered with the Humber International Development Institute to highlight the great work our faculties are doing, provide an avenue for more partnership conversations and ways for persons to become involved. It will also include a Q&A session, and an informal networking opportunity.

Presenters include:

1. Francisca (Frankie) Burg-Feret – Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness

· Frankie Burg-Feret is a professor in the Humber/UNB Bachelor of Nursing Program. She leads an annual inter-professional clinical practicum in Guatemala where Humber students and health care professionals work collaboratively to provide care to over 400 children in under-resourced communities.

2. Elinor Bray-Collins - Faculty of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Innovative Learning

· Elinor worked with the IDI in the summer of 2019 to help write a concept note for the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) Small and Medium Organization call (Also interim IDI manager)

3. Susan Murray - Faculty of Media and Creative Arts

· Involved in the Kenya Education for Employment Program (KEFEP) through experiential learning, Susan led 3 Bachelor of Film and Media production program students on a trip to Kenya to create mini-documentaries showcasing Humber’s work in Kenya

4. Ted Glenn - Faculty of Business

· Involved with Kenya Education for Employment Program (KEFEP) in a curriculum development capacity, Ted is the Competence Based Education and Training expert and is an integral part to helping form a Centre for Teaching and Learning

5. Kerry Johnston - Faculty of Applied Science and Technology

· Humber Sustainable Energy and Building Technology program coordinator Kerry Johnston is supporting the Sigalagala National Polytechnic (SNP) in Kenya to develop 3 levels of training for Solar Photovoltaic Installation

6. Jaspreet Bal - Faculty of Social and Community Services

· Dr. Jaspreet Bal has worked on international children's rights for a decade. Her recent project is a collaboration with Universities and Colleges in a project titled the Denmark, Uganda, and Vietnam Exchange
