Course Material List

  • 1 Pad of Cartridge Paper (18”x 24”)

  • One sheet of Fabriano 140 LB Cold Press paper 22x30. Aboveground Art Supply product code: FAB140CP2230 (or equivalent)

  • Two  sheets of Fabriano 140 LB Hot Press paper 22x30. Aboveground Art Supply product code: FAB140HP2230 (or equivalent)

  • Two Bull Dog Clips (if your drawing board has clips attached you don’t need these)

  • A drawing board TSA has boards but I recommend you buy your own to work at home

  • 3 Graphite Pencils – HB

  • 2 col-erase pencils- Blue or black (that’s “Blue” not “NP Blue” not “Light Blue”)

  • 5 Wolff’s Carbon pencils. Four B, one 2B-  if you can’t get those buy five Generals Charcoal Pencils (the orange ones)- Four HB, two 2B (test the HB before you buy it, make sure it draws smooth and if it’s scratchy grab another)

  • Charcoal pencil extender

  • Sand paper sharpening pad for charcoal pencils

  • Retractable Exacto Knife (wide blade)

  • Kneadable Eraser

  • Gum Eraser

  • Blending Stick (also called a “stomp”)

  • Ruler (24”)

  • Protractor

  • Set square (triangle ruler)

  • A few sticks of Conte, Brown, White, Black

  • A few sticks of Compressed Charcoal (preferably “Generals”- At AboveGround they are sold loose in a little box in the drawing section, Curry’s does not sell Generals Charcoal sticks. They sell a brand that says “Charcoal” on the front, but is not in fact Charcoal. If you read the back it states it is actually repackaged pastel. Don’t buy this product - this is not what we want. If you are at Curry’s buy the “Creatacolor Charcoal” brand instead.)

  • Willow Charcoal (large size)

  • Sketchbook for notes and handouts and stuff not necessary but recommended

  • Portfolio case for your 18 x 24 drawing board and drawings (working on previously rolled paper is awkward)
