About this event

This workshop will be led by Destiny Rae Wheatley.

Destiny is an Anishinaabe Artist and Band Member of Shawanaga First Nation Reserve located in Georgian Bay Ontario, Canada. She carries the Spirit Name “Autumn Woman” and has spent her whole life exploring the world through artistic expressions. Her Ojibway & Caribbean ancestry influence her diverse multi media arts focus and this has enabled her to share publicly her great love of the natural world while embracing her deep spiritual roots.

She has spent time working with diverse audiences to inspire them into meaningful communications through the arts. Entering OCAD in 2013 broadened her experience in art form explorations resulting in her acceptance into a performance art project called THE REMIX PROJECT in 2014. There she embraced spoken word, vocal recording and artistic expression connected to self healing explorations.

Following that experience Destiny had her first public art exhibit at Joshua Creek Heritage Center in 2018 alongside well- known Indigenous artist Norval Morriseau in the exhibit “Spirit pf the Earth”.

In 2019 her poetry was published in the book “Three Sisters” and she is currently working on a self- published book focused on her own poetry writings married with visuals of her artwork.

She was a featured artist for ANPVA’s Afro Indigenous Watch Party in 2021.

Destiny has participated in many collaborative art works and continues to work towards communicating with the world through various multi media endeavours including painting, sculpture, video recordings and music. To book Destiny please contact her at: destiny.wheatley@gmail.com

Commission work is being accepted at this time.
