A collaborative Christmas Concert between the Axios Men's Ensemble of Edmonton and the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America

About this Event

The Axios Men’s Ensemble is teaming up with the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America to present two concerts in Edmonton this coming December 21st and 22nd at St. Josaphat Cathedral.

For these two special concerts, the joint ensemble will be led by Michael Zaugg, one of the leading choral directors in North America, and Oleh Mahlay, the current artistic director and conductor of the Ukrainain Bandurist Chorus. They will conduct a memorable program presenting new music from Roman Hurko, Fr. John Sembrat OSBM and renowned Ukrainian composers such as Vedel, Stetsenko and, amongst others, Arvo Part.

The joint ensemble will feature acclaimed bandurists, Taras Yanitsky and Volodymyr Voyt from Kyiv, Ukraine, and four other professional choristers from across Ukraine. The concert will also spotlight the newly formed Ukrainian Children's and Youth Choir of Edmonton under the direction of Lesia Pohereski.
