Event description

Description

A musical journey that traces the birth and evolution of Canada. Starting with the Charlottetown Conference in 1864 the program visits each province and Territory as they entered the Confederation. A narrative sets the scene and slides provide visual support to the music.

The progam features all Canadian music with several new arrangements and special compositions. Of interest will be the first performance of th new composition "Aurora" by Saskatchewan composer Laura Pettigrew commissioned by Manotick Brass for this event. Also included are arrangements by Vancouver composer Robert Buckley of his compositions "Cathedral Grove" and "Yukon Quest". Trent Worthington of Edmonton is represented by his arrangement of "Alberta Cowboy Songs"

Ottawa composer E. F. Lloyd Hiscock has contributed several arrangements including "Songs of Old Manitoba"; "Sunset on the St. Lawrence"; "Pasredouble"; "A Medley of Newfoundland Fishing Songs" and the "March and Ride of the RCMP".
