Event description
A quaint get together to celebrate the retirement of Hugh McArthur.

About this Event

After 20 years of dedicated and outstanding service to Long Point Bird Observatory, Hugh McArthur is retiring. In addition to being a valued fixture of LPBO’s operation at the Old Cut Research Station, he has played a pivotal role in our education programming, and spearheaded the Friends of LPBO which has transformed how we interact with the public. Hugh personifies every effort the observatory makes to provide the public with a greater appreciation of birds. Hugh is very likely BSC’s all-time greatest volunteer contributing to LPBO, Project FeederWatch, Christmas Bird Count, the Great Lakes Marsh Monitoring Program, assistance with various projects at HQ, and without a doubt two or three things that we're forgetting or unaware of. While this certainly isn’t the end of Hugh’s support for LPBO and BSC, we can think of no better time to show Hugh our deepest gratitude for the time, effort and love that he's given to us all.

Please join us in honoring Hugh at the BSC Headquarters in Port Rowan on Tuesday November 5 starting at 5pm. Mingling with beverages will begin at 5 followed by hors d'oeurvres and a few short presentations. Weather permitting you’re welcome to join us for owls at Old Cut afterward.

If you’re unable to attend please consider sending stories, words of thanks, and especially PICTURES that we can share with Hugh and everyone that evening.

IMPORTANT – Although this may be futile, please try and keep this a secret from Hugh.

If you have any questions, need help with accommodation, etc., please don’t hesitate to contact smackenzie@birdscanada.org
