Event description

Description

This workshop is an introduction to the art of storytelling, with clinician Ruth Danziger.

Participants will look at how to choose a story, and the kinds of stories that work well with pre-schoolers. We will cover approaches that help captivate your audience including rhythm, pattern, repetition and participation, as well as ways to animate and vary the way you tell. We will spend time with the process of how to learn a longer story and feel comfortable telling it. Participants will also learn rhymes (little stories) and songs they can use in their programs, including some multicultural materials. The workshop will also involve ways to connect effortlessly with the range in our own voices as well as ways to use vocal sound with children in the context of rhymes, songs and stories.

Specific stories will be learned and resources for where to find your stories provided. The approach will be hands-on, relaxed and informal, using visualization and other techniques to remember a story simply and naturally, without memorizing.
