Event description

Description

The Hamilton and Area Branch of OASW welcomes you to a day of Mindfulness, Yoga, Meditation and Music in memory of Kathryn Stachyra, our beloved Board Member who passed away suddenly earlier this year. As Social Workers, it's important that we find balance and compassion in ourselves as we support others through adversity. Develop essential skills and knowledge of self-care that you can incorporate in your Social Work Practice. We hope you will join us at A Day For Us!

About the Presenters:

She provides presentations, workshops and courses to health care and service providers on topics such as compassion fatigue, work/life balance, mindfulness and end-of-life care. Valerie is a meditation teacher trained in the use of mindfulness in the clinical setting. In her private practice she provides counseling, groups, workshops and retreats to assist others in living well in Body, Mind and Spirit.

Stephen Hudecki, MA

Stephen Hudecki is a full time religious & spiritual care therapist in Toronto at West Park Healthcare centre. He has been drumming since 1978, studied with Gary Diggins in the 1990's and has been providing drum wellness programs since 2003 with a wide diversity of populations. This afternoon's workshop will include a variety of user- friendly instruments to explore sound and feelings almost invisibly. Expect a fun-filled and surprisingly deep experience where we provide "soundwork" for our own benefit and for the benefit of others.
