Event description

Description

A Day In Trauma is a one day conference on trauma-informed care that will bring together service providers and learners from healthcare and law, and those with expertise in trauma-informed care for a day of learning, skills development, and resource sharing.

Psychiatrists in Thunder Bay are increasingly aware that recognising the effects of trauma and offering care that is appropriate and welcoming to people affected by trauma is key to achieving trust, recovery, and balance. The Psychiatry faculty from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) has opted to take an active role in promoting awareness of and access to trauma-informed approaches to care by hosting "A Day in Trauma."

"A Day in Trauma" is pleased to have partnered with Children's Centre Thunder Bay and Faye Peterson House to deliver this important educational opportunity. Keynote addresses by Renee Linklater, Phd (CAMH, Toronto) and Teresa Marsh, PhD (NOSM, Lakehead & Laurentian Universities, Sudbury) as well as a plenary by Dr. Diane Whitney, MD, FRCPC, BCETS. Other presenters include Karen Slomke, RSW, Gwen O'Reilly from the Northwestern Ontario Women's Centre, and Sheri Norlen from William Creighton Youth Residential Services in Kenora.

Follow A Day In Trauma on FaceBook for up-to-date info!

The cost is $110 for general admission and there are a limited number of student tickets available for $60. The price includes breakfast and lunch.
