Summary:

This presentation is for professionals working in the retail and restaurant sectors.

A dementia-friendly community is a place where people affected by dementia feel included and supported. While creating dementia-friendly communities, individuals and organizations should focus on both the physical and social environments to ensure they are fully accessible.

During this presentation you will learn about the concept of dementia-friendly communities and be introduced to several resources to support you in creating retail and restaurant spaces that are dementia friendly. You will hear from Cindy Keo, Special Projects and Communications Coordinator, Alzheimer Society Windsor & Essex County about the Dining with Dementia Program, as well as care partner Dena Peifer about their experience taking part in the Dining with Dementia Program. The session will conclude with an interactive panel.

This project has been generously funded by the Government of Canada, administered by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The views expressed in this presentation do not necessarily represent the views of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
