Event description

Description

Join Joy Kogawa, Bishop Patrick Yu, and Olivia Chow for a public conversation ahead of its time.
Please join us for "A Dream of Reconciliation" at the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library on the 8th floor of the Robarts Library (University of Toronto). Admission is free. Seating is limited. All welcome.

Director of the Chenge Yu Tun East Asian Library, Hana Kim, will moderate and participate in a conversation speaking to both the heavy topics and inspirational opportunities available to reconciling the relationships between Chinese, Japanese, and other people of Asian heritage. Emerging through the collective history of trauma to craft a new future for our children and grandchildren is the focus of this sincere introspection into what makes us forgive and learn to love whole-heartedly.

Joy Kogawa, author of recently released memoir, Gently to Nagasaki, will draw upon her personal experiences of overcoming hate, fear, and the various evils that have plagued her life since writing her acclaimed novel, Obasan. Bishop Patrick Yu and Olivia Chow will likewise use their expertise of public service and social justice to deliver a renewable sense of hope to all those who attend. The public is invited to bring their questions to the panel.

Reserve your seat by registering above.
Thank you for your consideration.
