About this event

Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC)

Located in Ottawa the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) is a non-profit, live-in residential, and community-based treatment centre that is dedicated to helping youth (13-21) and their families across Ontario overcome substance use and mental health issues and to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

With separate evidence-based programs tailored to the specific needs of young men and women, it is the only Centre of its kind in Eastern Ontario.

DSYTC programs and services include comprehensive assessment, 3-month residential treatment, 3-month post-residential continuing care as well as family services (education, counselling, psychiatric assessment, one on one therapy as well as group therapy etc.)

A professional referral is not required to attain services and there are no formal fees required to access DSYTC programming.

With the invaluable support of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MoHLTC), the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), as well as the compassionate citizens, donors of our community, our dedicated staff, board of directors and local philanthropist Dave Smith, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre has been serving young people and their families since 1993.

CINDY MANOR

Cindy has more than 20 years’ experience in Publishing, Marketing, Advertising, Relationship Management and Finance. She started her career in media at The Ottawa Citizen (Postmedia), and then moved to the Ottawa Jewish Bulletin and Torstar/Metroland Media where she learned the newspaper business from the ground up (Switchboard Operator to General Manager).

Most recently, Cindy chose to leave the corporate world and take on a Senior Director of Philanthropy role at Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC). A move fueled by a desire to give back to Ontario’s youth and their families struggling with substance use and mental health issues.

Cindy is a proud mother of three young men Hunter, Keagan and Carson. Cindy is a huge supporter of the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) as she credits the centre and program for saving her son's life.

Since 2015, she has spoken openly about her journey of addiction and mental health issues with her son. She wants nothing more than to drop the shame and stigma around youth mental health and addiction; to give families “hope” through such a difficult time. Moreover, to bring our three aging campuses together to increase our capacity and lessen wait times for Ontario’s youth that are in crisis.
