Event Details

Let's meet up this Spring! A Kinky Affair is a networking event which will allow students, bloggers, business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals to mix and mingle in an intimate atmosphere. 

Some of the highlights of the night will include

- Marketplace, a chance to support other small businesses

- Spoken Word & Poetry by the City's Finest (Please see names below)

- Red Carpet Photo Shoot

- Discussion panel on "Is Natural Hair Professional?"

- Giveaways include Hair & Skin Care Products, Handmade Jewellery, Hair Service and other awesome prizes will be raffled off. Special Prizes will be given to "Best Natural Hairstyle" and "Best Dressed Guy & Girl"

A chance to be sketched by a student artist

Light Refreshments will be served

Highlights of the Night

1. MC/Host: Chantelle Selkridge

Chantelle Selkridge is a model, mother, student and natural hair vlogger. She was the 1st runner at Miss Black Beauty Canada 2012 beauty pageant where she represented St.Kitts & Nevis. She was also a performer in the theatre production "The Vagina Monologues".

2. Mutendei Akhaya Nabutete is a multi talented spoken word artist and Author, having produced two books of THE POETRY EXPRESS: What Would I Want To Be Volume 1 and the soon to be released IdeaBank-isms. In the aim to promote writing and literature, as a medium for individual and community development within the greater Toronto area and beyond, he has partnered with the GTA Book Tour to promote literature and authorship throughout the GTA.

3. Katia, (KaFé) has been called a global citizen, a renaissance woman and an enthusing performer. She crafts bilingual word creations in different genres from micro-fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry to literary sculpture, screenplay and spoken word performance, with work published nationally and internationally.

7. Pretty Faces by Jessica is a Medical Esthetician botique, specializing in Black skin issues. Jessica offers a variety of skin treatments at her shop in Burlington.

8. Sj Image Creations is an award winning image & styling consultatnt, wardrobe styling, speaker and publisher. Sj Image Creations teaches its clients on how to polish their images in 3 areas - their physical appearance, behaviour and communication. 

9. Keina Morgan is a Natural Hairstylist with over a decade of experience caring for natural hair of all textures. Her salon is located on 81 St. Clair Ave. E. Toronto. ON

10. I Heart My Hair is a Toronto based natural hair care blog which has partnered with us to be our media sponsor.

11. Curly Uncurly is a YouTube channel which provides weekly tips for mothers with daughters with kinky hair.

Adeola is the chief editor of Canada’s most comprehensive natural hair care blog with topics varying from children's hair care to controversial topics in the natural hair community. Aside from this blog, I have also had my work featured on other natural hair care blogs such as Curly Nikki and Naturally Curly.

I was also a weekly contributor on an African based natural hair care blog called African Naturalistas for a period of 7 months. Currently, I am a staff writer for Black Girl Long Hair, a major natural hair care blog with over 300,000 Facebook fans. 

My events provides Canadian readers with the opportunity to connect and share useful tips.
