Event description

Description

Vancouver is known as a lonely city, but we are here to challenge that narrative! On February 2, join us for A Midwinter Night's Dinner, as we bring together a group of strangers for a community experience over food. Community dinners are growing in popularity across Canada, and Canadian Memorial is bringing that trend to Vancouver.

Join fellow Vancouverites of all ages for a potluck dinner where we will break bread, make friends, and share in human connection.

This dinner is potluck, and registration is required to attend because space is limited. There's a suggested donation of $5.

Canadian Memorial is an open-minded, open-hearted, affirming community. All are truly welcome.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Centre for Peace is on the #33 bus route and there is a stop right outside. It is also a six-block walk from the #9/14/16 stop at Broadway and Burrard, and a three-block walk from the #16 stop at 16th and Arbutus.

The Centre for Peace has an adjacent free parking lot, accessible from 16th Avenue or from the alley between 16th and 15th. There is additional free street parking on the side streets south of 16th Avenue.

What should I bring into the event?

1. A potluck dish to share. We welcome both savoury dishes (think appetizers, entrées, etc.) and sweet dishes.

2. Any serving utensils required to serve your potluck item. We highly recommend labeling both your serving dish and your serving utensil with your name, so we ensure it makes it back to you at the end of the night.

3. It would also be helpful if you could bring a label highlighting the main ingredients in your dish, especially if they might cause allergies, or a label noting that your dish might be safe for those with food restrictions. (e.g. "contains nuts", "gluten-free", "broccoli-cheese casserole", etc.)

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please email communications@canadianmemorial.org.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No - we will have a list of those who have purchased tickets when you arrive. However, having your printed tickets will make checking in faster.

What if I am no longer able to attend the event?

If you are no longer able to attend the event, please email us to let us know, and we will cancel your ticket so that someone else will be able to attend in your stead. If you have made an optional donation, it is up to you whether you would like your donation refunded, simply let us know in your email.
