Psilocybin and Neurogenesis: A Narrative for the Entourage Effect with Microdosing

About this event

As part of the inaugural Canadian Psychedelic Summit, Paul Stamets will be giving a lecture on psilocybin and neurogenesis which will be livestreamed. Sign up for this free event to tune into the seminar! Before Paul goes live, we will also be streaming live music from Tarun Nayar of Modern Biology.

With the increasing interest in microdosing, what are the implications for age-related neuropathies or neurogenerative diseases? Paul will present compelling evidence that microdosing stacked with other substances may improve neurological health.

About Paul

Paul Stamets, speaker, author, mycologist, medical researcher and entrepreneur, is considered an intellectual and industry leader in fungi: habitat, medicinal use, and production. He lectures extensively to deepen the understanding and respect for the organisms that literally exist under every footstep taken on this path of life. His presentations cover a range of mushroom species and research showing how mushrooms can help the health of people and planet. His central premise is that habitats have immune systems, just like people, and mushrooms are cellular bridges between the two. Our close evolutionary relationship to fungi can be the basis for novel pairings in the microbiome that lead to greater sustainability and immune enhancement.

About Modern Biology

Modern Biology has brought 'plant music' to the masses. Originally educated as a biologist, veteran musician Tarun Nayar brings his passion for nature and sound together in an ambient project that is organismic, immediate, uplifting, and deeply contextual. He uses modular synthesis, home built synthesizers and other analog equipment to improvise with the natural vibrations of a certain place and time - via plant bioelectricity, latent electromagnetic radiation, and even the earth’s resonant hum. Trained from childhood in Indian classical music, he uses the system of Indian raga to mold his musical choices for time of day and season. His performances are an effort to bring the listener into the present moment through vibration, space, and connection.

His work has been viewed 10s of millions of times and amassed him over 600K followers on TikTok (@modernbiology), has been featured by The Guardian, BBC, Genius, Vice, The Verge, DJ Mag among others, and one of his ambient works opens the new album, Moonchild Era, by Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh. His recent albums have received editorial support on Spotify’s Music for Plants, Deep Listening, and Lava Lamp playlists.

Tarun is passionate about protecting wild places and has committed the lion's share of the proceeds of this project to supporting the natural world.

About the Summit

The Canadian Psychedelic Summit is the first in a series of annual gatherings that will bring together leaders across sectors to explore a vision for psychedelics in our nation centered around equity and ethics. Led by facilitator and medicine practitioner Kim Haxton, our time together will center the embodied knowledge of Indigenous peoples, creating space for ceremony, storytelling, and connection with ourselves, one another, and the natural world. With these foundations in place, we will lean into the most challenging conversations facing the psychedelics landscape, creating a movement for the future.
