A Park of the Future: Smithe-Richards
Event Information
About this event
*General Walk - limit of 40 people, masks not required*
It has been over 10 years since a new park was created in downtown Vancouver. Within that time, the city’s downtown has boomed with new residents and workers, with demand on greenspaces intensifying like never before. With the opening of Smithe-Richards park, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has created not only a space that pushes the boundaries of park design but one that creates a unique opportunity for people to connect to the unceded land they are on.
Join us for this mini-Jane's Walk to kick off the fest, and stick around for our meetup at the park afterwards ;)
UPDATE: meetup will now be at Library Square Pub after the mini walk due to the weather.

With a background in public space design and implementation, Alex is passionate about finding creative ways for people to enjoy parks and creating new spaces that push the limits of urban design.
