Muskoka Authors Association is excited to host South African author, Bianca Marais at their Thursday, May 3 meeting. Bianca will discuss the very personal inspiration for her apartheid novel, Hum If You Dont Know the Words. She will also share ways to overcome challenges on the road to publication, tips for touring and building a platform, advice about reading reviews and just about everything else she learned from publishing her debut novel. There will be a reading and a Q & A afterwards.

Hum If You Dont Know the Words, has been translated into four languages and was chosen by The Globe and Mail as one of the best 100 novels of 2017 and was on the New York Post’s 'required reading’ list. The novel received many starred reviews and has been compared to both The Help and The Secret Life of Bees. O, the Oprah Magazine described it as radiant while Library Journal listed Bianca as a writer to watch”. Her second novel, If You Want to Make God Laugh, will be released in 2018.
