You are invited to the Safer Province for Everyone Conference: Responding to Violence Against Sex Workers in BC. This conference will bring together diverse stakeholders from around BC to discuss best practices in responding to violence against sex workers, including rural, trans*/2-spirit, male, immigrant and Indigenous sex workers. The first of its kind in BC, the Safer Province for Everyone Conference will host sex workers, sex-worker organizations, Indigenous organizations, police, government, health authorities, legal organizations and others from throughout BC.

Themes include:

  • Understanding violence in the sex industry in different parts of BC
  • Learning about the policing Provincial Sex Work Enforcement Guidelines and how they are being implemented across BC
  • Strategizing around a provincial bad date reporting system
  • Best practices to decrease violence against diverse sex workers

Through the conference, participants will collectively develop an action plan, supported by a BC-wide network of organizations, to make the province safer for sex workers. This action plan will continue to move forward the recommendations in the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry.

Speakers from across the province include sex workers, RCMP, nonprofits, academics and municipalities.

This conference is sponsored by Living in Community in partnership with WISH Drop-In Centre Society, Health Initiative for Men, SWAN, Peers Victoria, Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre, PACE Society, The Metro Vancouver Consortium, SWUAV and EVA BC.

Early bird tickets for the conference are $175 before April 30. After April 30, tickets will be $200.
