Description

Description

Progressive apical displacement of gingival tissue away from the CEJ results in gingival recession and root exposure. The clinical consequences include root sensitivity, root caries, cervical root abrasions, inadequate plaque control, and aesthetic concern.

Various Tunneling surgical procedures have been documented for the treatments of gingival recession. Their advantages include minimizing surgical trauma, maintaining better blood supply, preserving papillary integrity, reducing tissue refraction, absence of scar tissue and excellent root coverage.

This full-day lecture and hands on workshop on a subperiosteal tunnel technique utilize plastic models and pig jaws.
