Event description
Celebrate indigenous culture and life through story, dance, ceremony, song & food, featuring Jesse Thistle, Metis scholar and author

About this Event

Join True North Aid once again as we celebrate the rich and diverse culture of Indigenous peoples in Canada through various ways including song, story, dance, food and ceremony. This important event shares with many what they may not have learned in school. Speakers include local Elder, Georgina Riel and Paul Carl.

This year we are so proud to announce that best-selling Metis-Cree author and award-winning scholar, Jesse Thistle will be a part of this event. His debut memoir, "From the Ashes: My Story of Being Metis, Homeless, and Finding My Way", has garnered critical acclaimed and quickly rose to be an instant best-seller in Canada. This year, Jesse's memoir is nominated for the 2020 CBC Canada Reads short-list.

*TICKETS ARE LIMITED*

From the Ashes is a remarkable memoir about hope and resilience, and a revelatory look into the life of a Métis-Cree man who refused to give up.

During this event, attendees will learn how to make a difference in northern Indigenous communities across Canada. For more information on True North Aid, please visit our website: www.truenorthaid.ca
