A tribute to the music of Horace Silver

A tribute to the music of Horace Silver

By Nebula Repertory Ensemble Association

Overview

The Jazz Nebula Quartet performs the music of iconic jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader Horace Silver.

Horace Silver was an American jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader particularly in the Hard Bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. He was among the most influential jazz musicians of his lifetime. His compositions, many of which are jazz standards, continue to be performed and recorded worldwide and a selection of these will be performed by the Jazz Nebula’s Quartet featuring Jon Day (piano) and John Reid (saxophone, flute, and clarinet). Doors open at 1 pm and the performance begins at 2 pm.

ThIs is the second concert in a series of six concerts presented by Jazz Nebula at Scarboro United Church for its 2025-26 season (The Great American Songbook, Horace Silver, George Gershwin, The Great Saxophonists, Cole Porter, and Thelonious Monk). See the coloured brochure below for more details.
