A tribute to the music of Thelonious Monk
Overview
Thelonious Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer who is the second-most-recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington. His compositions and improvisations feature dissonances and angular melodic twists and a highly percussive style of playing. Jazz Nebula’s Quartet, featuring Jon Day (piano) and John Reid (saxophone, flute, and clarinet), will perform selections of Thelonius Monk's music.
Doors open at 1 pm and the show begins at 2 pm.
ThIs is the final concert in a series of six concerts presented by Jazz Nebula at Scarboro United Church for its 2025-26 season (The Great American Songbook, Horace Silver, George Gershwin, The Great Saxophonists, Cole Porter, and Thelonious Monk). See the coloured brochure below for more details.
