Practical Soft Skills for Project Control Success - Presented by Roy Singh

In this presentation, Mr. Singh will share lessons learned from his role as project controls manager for a major nuclear EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Manufacturing) company. The practical lessons in communication, motivation and presentation based on the execution of the mandated scope of work were significant. The objective of this presentation is to illustrate how the soft skills of Communication, Motivation and Presentation have been critical for the successful completion of his role.
Mr. Roy Singh is an Educator/PM Consultant with over 30 years’ experience in Cost, Scheduling and Project Management. An Engineering graduate from the University of New Brunswick, he also completed his Master’s in Education (M. Ed.) from Athabasca University in 2014. Mr. Singh started his career as a Civil Engineer, working on Infrastructure projects in Alberta. After 2 years he embraced project controls starting with Fluor Canada, he has worked progressively from Cost/Scheduling Engineer to being a Project Controls Manager and Director for major EPC projects; working in industries inclusive of: Oil and Gas, Mining, Nuclear and Infrastructure areas. He worked with major Companies inclusive of: Shell, Barrick Resources, SNC Lavalin, Bechtel/Bantrel, URS, Suncor, Syncrude, Ontario Power Generation, Giffels and TTC. In addition, he provides continuing adult education training at Ryerson, Seneca and Centennial Colleges. He is also a regular presenter and co-authored of the book- "Skills and Knowledge" 6th edition at AACEI.
