Our presenter for February is Dr. Colleen Norris.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death in Canadian women. Globally, cardiovascular diseases affect 1 out of 3 women, yet women everywhere are under-studied, under-diagnosed, under-treated, and, most importantly, under-aware when it comes to their heart health. Dr. Colleen Norris will review sex- and gender-unique differences in cardiovascular disease risk across a woman’s lifespan.

Dr. Norris is the Scientific Director of the Cardiovascular Health and Stroke Strategic Clinical Network for Alberta Health Services. Her program of research focuses on the sex and gender factors that impact women’s heart health.
