Combining traditional First Nations embroidery and appliqué techniques with holiday crafting, this workshop leads you through all the steps to create an Aboriginal Christmas Stocking. Join us for cookies, hot chocolate and make one for yourself or a friend!
In this workshop (depending on your comfort level) you will be shown several techniques for sewing and decorating stockings and then apply these techniques to make your own unique creation. There are a number of materials to work with, including felt, yarn, ric rac ribbons and even beaver fur for the trim (if you choose to work with fur).
About the instructor: Shirley Dawson is a Southern Tutchone / Gwitchin descendant who practices a number of different traditional sewing techniques and enjoys sharing her knowledge and culture with others who have a desire to learn and understand Aboriginal culture and practices.
