Event description

Description

In order to understand how to work effectively with Indigenous Peoples we must first understand our shared history. We will briefly review the period prior to contact, then focus on the ever changing relationship between the settlers and the original peoples. We will touch on Treaties, Residential School Policy, Child Welfare System, Social Determinants of Health and the over representation of Aboriginal People in the justice system. We will explore the differences in our worldviews, how these worldviews can be combined to create better outcomes for all. Once we have a greater understanding of the relationship then we can work together to repair the fractures in the fabric of our communities.
