About this event
Globally, mining companies are looking at electrification and autonomous mining as key elements of how we improve the way we mine. Building on work already underway, this workshop will bring stakeholders together to define how the Latin American community can help lead global efforts and work in the electric mine.
Mining companies have set decarbonization targets. The challenge remains identifying and implementing the technologies, systems and processes required in order to reach those goals. Technology advancement is underway – such as alternative energy sources, electrification of the fleet, including BEV’s, trolley assist and hydrogen power – to move away from the reliance on diesel to achieve goals such as carbon reduction, improving the working environment, mining at greater depths, and enhanced productivity, efficiency, and performance. While there are many benefits, there are also multiple challenges that come with them such as operational and infrastructure adjustments, new safety considerations, energy consumption modelling, and change management.
During this 3-hour workshop, participants will build on the work already underway to identify key considerations and current gaps in knowledge for the building and operation of the autonomous and electric mine; share their current priorities and focuses; share experience and expertise; and define collaborative work that can be achieved in 2023 that will contribute to the progress towards future mining.
