Description

The multi-day workshop allows participants to attend Day One and Two for ACT 1 Certification Training. In addition, participants have the option to attend the third day of training to focus specifically on utilizing ACT with children, youth, and families.

Day One and Two (October 18 & 19):

This workshop is a single-track program designed to establish a foundational understanding of the Psychological Flexibility Model, a beginning set of skills in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and beginning knowledge of Relational Frame Theory (RFT). Over the two days, you will learn:

  • An experiential understanding of the six basic processes of ACT’s Psychological Flexibility Model: The relationship between the six basic processes and Relational Frame Theory (RFT)

    • Flexible contact with the present moment

    • Cognitive Defusion

    • Acceptance

    • Self-as-context

    • Values

    • Committed action

  • How to apply the Psychological Flexibility Model to case conceptualization and treatment planning

  • Practical skills for meeting clients where they are and fostering their willingness and openness to change

  • Ways to assess, observe, and influence client processes in session

Day Three (October 20 - optional): training is a special opportunity to learn to utilize the skills from Day One and Two with children, youth, and families. Tim's (MSW, RSW) extensive background, with this population, coupled with Dr. Louise Hayes (C. Psych) DNA-V approach, provides clinican's with interactive and practical skills for working with this clientele.
