Description

A day trip via motor coach out of Toronto to explore the roots of the Women’s Institute and the E.D. Smith jam company in the Stoney Creek area (near Hamilton, Ontario), with visits to the Erland Lee Museum (birthplace of the Women’s Institute), Battlefield House Museum and Park (site of the Georgian-era home of the Gage family) and the Ridge Road Estate Winery, where wine tastings, nibbles and historic tidbits about E.D. Smith will be on offer.

Admission: $85-$95, including tours, lunch, historic food tastings (Details subject to change.)

Meet at 8:45 a.m. for 9 a.m. (sharp) departure from Islington TTC Main Lot in Etobicoke. (Note for out-of-Toronto attendees: a limited amount of parking is available for the day at Erland Lee Museum. Those wishing to join the bus group there by 10 a.m. will be returned to the site at 4:30 p.m. Arrangements must be made in advance via sarah@culinaryhistorians.ca.)
