Description

This one-day refresher training is required for instructors who have completed the Train-the-Trainer Program.

Participants will re-examine updated research as well as best practices including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and solution-focused interventions for those at risk of suicide. Participants will have opportunities to explore the impacts of therapeutic rapport, review current risk assessment models and re-evaluate safety plans for suicide prevention. This training also reviews the developmental needs of adolescents and the potentially detrimental interactions of adolescent development and risk. Finally, it will explore research related to contagion and further develop both a clinical and community-based framework for post-intervention responses.
