This informal session invites you, in a relaxed setting, working either on your own, with a friend or in a small group, to further develop your knowledge of Excel; a tool which employers increasingly require.
Questions are encouraged, real data and scenarios are introduced to practice with and time is provided for you to see how these tips can help you in your own aims.

Excel is a fundamental tool used by financial professionals in every business sector. The main purposes are to capture raw data to build complex business models to either consolidate or develop trend analysis. This session is ideal for improving Excel model building skills and knowledge to an advanced level. Topics covered: managing large volumes of data, data manipulating techniques, slicing and dicing, data drill down methods for extrapolating into meaningful information. Developments of dynamic dashboards and financial reports.
Mike has extensive commercial experience working in high demanding roles for global organisations. This has included organisation household names: BP, RBS, EDS, Rolls Royce Aero Engines, AT Kearney and World Com where Mike has implemented improvements within core organisational functions especially Accounting and HR departments. He has experience of leading business teams using ‘follow the Sun’ concepts, supporting 24/7/365 business operations for non-stop trading through Asia, EMEA and the Americas. As a part time lecturer at the University of Portsmouth since 2006, he appreciates the benefits of knowledge sharing with students in higher education where they can reap an insiders understanding of how organisations operate. He will use his expertise to help you understand what employers expect new recruits and interns to be capable of, which includes being of value to the organisation from day 1.
