Event description
Queen's University Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering is happy to present the 19th annual AESRC 2020 conference.

About this Event

If you are registering for the conference and do not intend to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation, please still fill out the abstract submission form so that we can collect your name, affiliation, dietary restrictions and meal preference to prepare lanyards and ensure that meal options accommodate all individuals. The form can be found here: abstract form.

The theme for the Queen's AESRC 2020 is "Deep Learning". Increased integration of technology within the earth science field has allowed researchers to dive deeper into data, driving further insights, and promoting collaboration between specializations. This conference intends to highlight recent achievements of students who are digging deeper to help learn more about the vast world around us.

The conference program will include daily sessions, featuring keynote speakers of interest to all delegates, technical and poster sessions to meet the diverse needs of attendees. In addition to the oral and poster presentations, the conference’s program will allow delegates the opportunity to discuss their respective research during networking sessions over coffee. The technical program will be supplemented by an extensive social program including an opening Icebreaker Reception, Sponsored Lunches, and the Student Awards and Dinner Banquet.

For almost 400 years Kingston has been visited by explorers, politicians, and academics. Rich with history, rife with culture, and sprawling with natural beauty, Kingston is a city of exaggerated proportions - our nation's first capital. While exploring the city you'll find the true spirit of this land, you’ll stumble upon everything from wildlife, to people, to amazing vistas, to an abundance of culture.

With a population of over 130,000, the metropolitan Kingston area is an economic and cultural center of the province and offers a natural environment, clean air, safe streets and all the amenities of a larger city with a European flavour. Our rich history and culture and “small town” quality of life make Kingston a pleasure to visit.

Please visit the conference website for details on abstract submission, the conference program, and events.
