Jay Sankoff
Always looking for a new challenge and opportunities to improve the advisor and client experience, Jay created the High Net Worth New Business and Underwriting Team three years ago. Prior to that Jay led the Sun Life Third Party New Business and Underwriting Teams for four years, and RBC Insurances Life and Living Benefit Underwriting Teams for 8 years.
And now, Jay joins the Distribution team in his new role specifically to work with advisors in their development of complex case submissions. Leading the High Net Worth Solutions Centre and a growing team of Field Underwriters Sun Life will focus helping advisors submit more fulsome application packages to help speed up the underwriting and issue process.
Jay is an avid traveler, scuba diver, and dedicated hockey player and coach. Happy to be back on the ice and looking forward to strapping a tank on his back again, Jay also enjoys spending time in the summer with his wife and daughter at the cottage or on a golf course.
Alan Lio
Your partner for creative solutions for high and ultra high net worth clients
Alan Lio is driven by a desire to help others and see them reach their full potential. There’s a natural alignment between his personal motivation and his role where he offers large case consultation and tax and estate planning for high net worth clients.
By partnering with insurance advisors and other centres of influence, Alan supports ultra high net worth and high net worth clients by delivering integrated insurance and tax planning solutions. He has an expert level tax technical knowledge and a specialization in business succession planning and estate and tax planning.
His career experience working directly with ultra high net worth individuals, business owners and families gives Alan a unique understanding of their needs and the challenges advisors face every day. He truly believes that planning is a journey not a destination. He sees planning as continuous activity, not a one off transaction.
Alan received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of British Columbia, specializing in Accounting and Business Technology Management, and his Master of Taxation (MTax) from the University of Waterloo. Alan is also a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) and has obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), and Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designations.
Both his past experience and his education give Alan the unique ability to analyze client situations from both a tax accountant and a wealth planning lens having been in both roles. His FEA designation helps has helped Alan understand business owners and how their family dynamics can affect their planning decisions.
When Alan is not assisting high net worth clients, he is passionate about professional education and enjoys playing badminton and ultimate Frisbee. Alan lives in Markham with his wife Natalie and their young daughter Madelyn.
